Stop Illinois Legislators from rewriting the R2 Standard

Block Ilinois CRT Bill

Block CRT Bill and keep Lead out of Illinois Landfills!

The Illinois House of Representatives passed HB 6321 in a 114-0 vote on April 7, and the Senate’s version, SB 2770, was approved that same day by the Environment and Conservation Committee in an 8-0 vote. It’s now up for consideration by the full Senate.

Representatives of the e-Stewards and R2 certifications have challenged the legality of the bill.

R2 prohibits the storage-cell approach, and e-Stewards permits it only as a “conditionally allowable option.”

Illinois House passes CRT Bill

The Illinois House Bill 6321 (HB 6321) and its companion Senate Bill 2770 (SB 2770) is essentially rewriting the R2 standard. This is a violation of our first amendment right to free speech and would significantly reduce the value of the standard that has been diligently developed over many years of hard work by many people.

Given that the R2 Standard is a Voluntary Consensus Standard (VCS) accredited by American National Standards Institute (ANSI) SERI, the owner of the standard, is required to “consistently adhere to a set of requirements or procedures known as the “ANSI Essential Requirements“, that govern the consensus development process. These Essential Requirements include procedures and requirements necessary to change the standard.  If  you oppose placing Lead contaminated CRT glass into our nations heartlands we need your help, follow the link and support the petition to block this law before it’s too late.
