Austin Recycler GES Files Bankruptcy

GES Files Bankruptcy

GES files Bankruptcy leaving behind warehouses full of e-Waste and toxic landfills they created at their Kentucky and Austin locations.   An earlier ATR report outlines the companies role in Kentucky’s E-Waste program which has since been suspended.  According to Legal Filings Austin property owner HTL Properties LLC claims the entire Austin warehouse was packed from floor to ceiling.  Reports from Kentucky indicate a similar situation in addition to piles of granulated materials laced with Lead strewn about the facility.  Environmental concerns grow as recent excavating efforts reveal even more materials hidden below landscaping efforts.   Although the company carried a mandatory 10 Million Dollar environmental clean up policy OEM’s like Lexmark aren’t taking any chances and have voluntarily stepped in to help clean up materials collected on their behalf.   In 2015 the EPA handed out a staggering 7 Billion Dollars in enforcement actions to companies and customers alike.

Advanced Technology Recycling has taken extensive measures to acquire R2 certification at all 6 of our facilities and Richmond VA our newest location will be included once operational.  Isn’t it time to Rethink Electronic Recycling…ThinkATR!
