Free TV Recycling in Illinois

ATR with (9) R2 certified locations throughout the US is pleased to announce free TV Recycling in Illinois for 2017.  Residents can drop off up to 10 covered devices per day at 8202 North University St in Peoria and 902 North Hazel St. in Pontiac from 9-12 & 1-4 M-F only.   “Free TV recycling options have dwindled away in recent years as commodity prices fell and OEM funding was exhausted” said Ken Ehresman COO for Advanced Technology Recycling.  Many Illinoisans are unaware recent changes in legislation have allowed non-regulated recycling companies in central Illinois to landfill the toxic glass into retrievable cells.  ATR strongly opposes these practices and began a nationwide campaign to secure funding to bring back free TV recycling in Illinois.

In 2016 ATR announced free TV recycling in Michigan and successfully collected over 1.3 Million pounds of Cathode Ray Tubes (CRT) in record time.    The program was an overwhelming success and resulted in an increase in funding for 2017 to 4 Million pounds.  ATR also secured 2017 funding for New York and now offers free TV recycling in Buffalo.  New York residents can drop off CEDs at the Tonawanda facility located at 200 Fire Tower Drive or call them at 716-693-7779.

“Free residential recycling programs are an integral part of environmental stewardship and should be available to everyone” continues Ehresman.   Recycling electronics creates local jobs, provides reclaimed raw materials to our manufacturing sector and eliminates the need to landfill the toxic materials.

Free TV Recycling offer to help break 3 Guinness World Records!

In an ongoing effort to flush out all the CRT’s and raise awareness before funding expires ATR will attempt to break our existing Guinness World Record and 2 new ones in April during Earth Day collections.  In 2015 ATR launched the One Million Pound Challenge (OMPC) and successfully collected 1,180,442 pounds of Consumer Electronics setting a new Guinness World Record in just 1 week!
